LOng time-

It's been a while. I got distracted by Thanksgiving,Christmas, babies being born and vacationing...Then Saints games and Mardi gras. I'm back!! Lets see. I've been cooking a lot. My passion for food grows stronger every day. I can't wait to learn everything I can take in. I was recently looking at another womans blog and she is also a food stylist as well as a Pastry Chef and a food photographer. WOW!! That's so exciting. Would love to pursue that down the road. For now though, focusing on school starting and soaking up information from all around me!

Have been curious if anyone out there started off like me. New into culinary school and wants to eventually have my own catering business. I just don't know what the smartest way to go about things would be. Anyone???

It was a good weekend!!

Yay! I get to stay in my house. My landlord lowered my rent. He brought a couple over last Thursday and they were interested. I told him how upset I was to leave but had no idea he would lower my rent. I will never forget his generosity. Also my sister got a new puppy who is absolutely adorable. She's going to be a great dog. About 2 years ago she lost her dog that she had for a verrry long time so she said it was time for another one. She got the same kind(bichon frise). Saturday I spent the day with my my good friend(she's like my sister) and her mother. She's pregnant with a baby girl and I'm putting her baby shower together for her. I'm so excited. I hope she looks like her mommy. Then Sunday the SAINTS won!!! 6-0!! It was a good weekend! Time to get this shower on the road. Can't wait to post those pictures :)

Dinner for 2!

This past weekend was my boyfriends birthday soo I cooked him some of his favorites. He loves crostinis with just about anything on top! I made him some with this bruschetta maker I found at Marshall's(which by the way that and Tj Maxxs I ♥). I chopped up plum tomatoes and some garlic and mixed in some basil paste. Easy and Yummy!

Next we had a Salad, that didn't go as planned but was still very good! I bought a bag of spinach leaves at the supermarket and did not realize till I got home that it was open. BUMMER... he loves spinach leaves. I just layered some yellow and red tomatoes with mozzarella and topped it with crab meat and a balsamic red onion vinaigrette. Still very goooood!

Then for the main course!!!! He wanted scallops. I wanted them wrapped in bacon but it wasn't my birthday so I made a something different. Being from the south I love shrimp and grits and thought to myself I've never had scallops over grits and WOW!! I asked him and he said, "That's what I want." I seared the scallops and put them over grits with a Sherry cream sauce. He loved it!

Dessert was postponed. Will update when it's ready!

My Life so far-

Hello! You can call me choux-choux. It was my nick-name as a child, ironic that I want to be a Pastry chef. I'm currently looking for a new place to live and downsize from my home now and save money to cook and go to school in the spring. I recently had a birthday and got a Kitchenaid mixer and Cuisinart food processor, so of course I was extremely excited to not have to use my hand-held mixer for everything or my 2 cup cheap processor from Wal-mart. But don't get me wrong they were very helpful and stuck with me. I decided to start a blog to talk to others about my love for food and also to record all the things I love to make. Hope you enjoy!
